Job SummaryFinancial Institutions/Fixed Income & Forex Sales:
• To promote and drive Absa Tanzania’s business agenda for institutional clients through increased income contribution from this market segment through excellent customer service to position the bank favourably to the clients in scope.
• Focus areas to including Structured products to all commercial banks, vanilla and non-vanilla products to Micro finance banks not on Reuters, Non-bank Financial Institutions, developmental organs and local and regional institutional clients like pension funds excluding fixed income.
• To manage and sustain a portfolio of customer relationship drawn from the non-bank financial institutions and non-Primary Dealing banks segments, developing and building long-term relationships founded on trust, efficient and reliable customer service support. This is achieved particularly through quick and relevant decisions and execution of transactions, as well as managing consistency and quality across the operational service chain.
• Meet FI Sales targets (fixed income and FX)
• The jobholder will be responsible for business development to win new customers and sustain existing customers within the portfolio.
• Support the Head in the management and development of the FI Sales function


Job Description

Main accountabilities and approximate time split

  • Accountability: Sales and Service – 60%Promote the expansion and penetration of FI Sales business to focused target clients and expand the customers’ base
  • Meet the volume and profitability targets set for Institutional Sales
  • Contribute to the fashioning of annual other periodic Markets Strategies
  • Any other duties that will be assigned by the Head of Markets Sales from time to time.
  • Business development via visits/roadshow, telephone and email outreach to promote ABSA as the go-to bank for Financial Institutions’ Fixed Income, derivatives and Forex needs.
  • Actively explore for and on-board new FI’s and pursue execution of ISDA and CSAs with bank counterparties
  • Explore opportunities for secondary market fixed income dealing with clients as agreed
  • Prospect and execute primary bond auction bids
  • Research, create and follow up on a target list for potential new business.
  • Identify and offer structured products to this customer base
Accountability: 
  •  Risk Management– 40%Ensure personal compliance with all market risk requirements.
  • Ensure trades are booked into Front Arena and CDS platforms timeously and accurately
  • Support the function and ensure that the weekly primary auction bidding process is completed accurately
  • Offer structured products that are approved via NAPA process
  • Initiate NAPA for new products that are needed by clients in the market
  • Ensure certain trades are approved by pre-deal committee at group level before execution
  • Ensure PFEs and Debt Financing Limits are approved before execution of trades

Role / Person Specification

  • Education and Experience RequiredDegree to honours level, post graduate qualification preferred
  • Basic level ACI certification
  • A working knowledge of capital markets products
  • 4 years banking experience, at least 1 of which should preferably have been in sales or trading in a Markets environment; effective sales and trading ability with good track record
  • Sound understanding of business analysis and markets analysis
  • A working knowledge of capital markets derivatives products

Knowledge & Skills:
  •  (Maximum of 6)Strong understanding of CIB business; in-depth knowledge of Markets products, services and strategies and Middle office and Back-office operations.
  • Understanding of ABSA Bank of Tanzania strategies and objectives
  • Good understanding of external business, legal and regulatory environment, and impact
  • Knowledge of strategies and products of financial competitors in the market
  • Understanding of economic environment in Tanzania

JOB TITLE: Mortgage Sales Officer


Job Summary
Based in HQ will have responsibility for selling products, servicing customer and manage pioneers on a proactive and reactive basis. The role holder will be required to meet minimum performance standards across service and sales meeting a minimum number of sales per week based on an appropriate product mix. The role is based in a named office, but the role holder will be expected to work in and support other departments as and when required. The role operates using pre-programmed systems and well-defined procedures, but there may be times when the role holder must address unforeseen situations, escalating to more senior level as appropriate.

Job Description

Main accountabilities and approximate time split

Sales & service:

  • 80%Develop and execute strategies to achieve mortgage sales targets.
  • Identify and engage potential clients through various channels, including referrals, partnerships with developers, and direct marketing.
  • Conduct needs assessments and recommend suitable mortgage products to customers.
  • Provide guidance on application processes, eligibility criteria, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure timely follow-ups and updates to customers throughout the application process.
  • Undertake customer service initiatives/requirements for face-to-face customers to pre-determined service standards
  • Building relationships with existing customers to pro-actively anticipate and address future customer needs and identify sales opportunities.Cross-sell appropriate customer needs related products face to face
  • Complete follow-up paperwork and undertake administration activities to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant operation of the product.
  • Assist customers in completion of Bank stationary, forms etc.Introduce customers to appropriate product/segment specialistsUndertake in-bound and out-bound marketing, enough mortgage brochures, special campaigns, promotions etc.Deal with handling complaints.Works to achieve service and sales targets
  • Maintain statistics and monitor progress of target reporting

Portfolio Management:

  1. 20%Maintain a healthy mortgage portfolio by monitoring loan performance and managing risks.
  2. Conduct regular reviews of customer accounts to identify opportunities for cross-selling or refinancing.
  3. Address delinquent accounts and collaborate with the Collections team to resolve repayment issues.
  4. Analyse portfolio trends to provide insights and recommendations for growth and risk management.
  5. Prepare and present portfolio performance reports to management.
  6. Ensure all mortgage sales and portfolio activities comply with regulatory and internal policies.
  7. Conduct thorough due diligence to minimize credit and operational risks.
  8. Keep up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions impacting the mortgage business
  9. Work closely with the Retail Credit Unit and Risk Control Unit team to ensure seamless processing of applications.
  10. Collaborate with marketing teams to develop campaigns promoting mortgage products.
  11. Support training initiatives for sales members or other departments on mortgage products.
  12. Ensure timely renewal of property insurance policies for all mortgage clients to maintain adequate coverage.
  13. Work closely with Bancassurance and PSA property Insurance to make follow up with customers and insurers for renewal and to confirm insurance compliance and update records accordingly.
  14. Coordinate the renewal of property valuation reports as per policy requirements to assess the current value of mortgaged properties.
  15. Liaise with approved valuers to ensure timely and accurate reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory and institutional standards
  16. Maintain statistics and monitor progress of target reporting.
