Overview

Jhpiego has been collaborating with the President's Office and the Ministry of Health since 2018 to improve Tanzania's HPV vaccination program. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, President Office Regional Authority, and Local Government, Jhpiego, through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will conduct a study to produce evidence on sustainability factors in HPV vaccination implementation in Tanzania from 2022 to 2024. The study will cover the introduction of the HPV vaccine, its transition to single dose/MAC, and its routineization. Jhpiego, MoH, and PORALG will carry out a study to identify and record important sustainability aspects across Tanzania's HPV vaccination deployment process.

In order to support field data collecting in eight regions of Tanzania's mainland, encompassing sixteen (16) councils, Jhpiego hired individual research assistants.This work is anticipated to take no more than two weeks, beginning on January 12, 2026.

Responsibilities

As stated in the study protocol, the research assistant must exhibit professionalism and adherence to research ethics and protocols. He will possess a comprehensive understanding of the study's Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for data collecting.

The data integrity and study procedure will be closely followed by the research assistant. Among the roles are

  • Follow the guidelines for conducting all study-related activities, such as participant consent and interviews.
    assuming accountability for the safe and secure upkeep of any study-provided devices, such as tablets, to support data collection at all times.
    In order to avoid unduly burdening study participants during interviews, manage the time allotted for data collection.
    During data collection, oversee the short-term storage of all study data.
  • Notify the field supervisor of any difficulties that can restrict the process of gathering data.
    Participate in daily feedback sessions as directed and scheduled by the Study PI or Team Leader.
    Perform any other study-related tasks that your supervisor assigns you.

Required Qualifications

Public health, epidemiology, nursing, medical sciences, health systems management, sociology and social sciences, statistics, or biostatistics?
  • or any other pertinent field.
  • expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Strong computer skills and experience gathering data electronically include the capacity to use a smartphone for data collecting.
  • the capacity to lead interviews, including KII probing.
  • strong and accurate note-taking abilities that are crucial to take notes during KII.
  • the capacity to read and write in both Swahili and English.
  • familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite
  • completed comparable jobs no more than two years ago.

Preferred Qualifications

When working in the field, be adaptable and ready to put in more hours.
  • be willing and dedicated to working remotely and making frequent trips to far-off places.
  • possess the ability to be well-organized, operate without constant supervision, and perform well in a team.
  • Be prepared to take daily compensation in exchange for completing the duties at hand at the necessary standards and quality.
