Job Summary for the Security and Facility Officer

FINCA Tanzania is seeking to recruit a Security and Facility Officer to support the safety, security, and proper management of the bank’s premises, staff, customers, and assets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing security operations, monitoring facilities, supporting property and maintenance activities, and coordinating assigned projects in line with internal policies and operational standards. This role also involves preparing reports, supervising service providers, and helping ensure that office buildings, equipment, and other assets are maintained in good condition.

Key Responsibilities for the Security and Facility Officer

Security Operations

  • Implement and follow organizational security procedures in line with FINCA Tanzania’s security guidelines.
  • Conduct regular patrols around office premises and surrounding areas to identify signs of intrusion, damage, or unusual activity.
  • Monitor access to the premises by checking visitor identification, issuing passes, and controlling entry and exit points according to policy.
  • Supervise the use of CCTV systems, alarm systems, and other security tools to detect suspicious activity or safety concerns.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies such as fire incidents, medical situations, or security breaches, including coordinating evacuation and contacting relevant authorities where necessary.
  • Maintain daily occurrence records and prepare incident reports for theft, vandalism, accidents, or other security-related matters.
  • Promote compliance with safety, health, and workplace security procedures.
  • Assist visitors, guests, and customers in a professional and respectful manner.

Facilities and Property Management

  • Work closely with the Administration Manager to identify suitable premises and support lease negotiations where required.
  • Prepare maintenance plans and oversee repairs and servicing of buildings, offices, and related facilities.
  • Support space planning and ensure proper use and management of properties under FINCA Tanzania’s control.
  • Oversee maintenance of essential equipment and systems such as fire extinguishers, air conditioners, generators, and communication facilities.
  • Carry out routine inspections of buildings and prepare inspection reports.
  • Ensure timely repair and maintenance of premises and related infrastructure, including office telephones and key support facilities.

Project Coordination

  • Support the clear definition of project scope and expected deliverables together with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Coordinate implementation of assigned projects and ensure work is completed within approved timelines, budgets, and available resources.
  • Track project-related costs and support proper allocation of expenditure.
  • Identify implementation challenges and recommend corrective actions where needed.
  • Follow up on agreed actions and monitor progress until completion.

Reporting and Administration

  • Prepare property management records and reports in line with administration procedures.
  • Update the Administration Manager on procurement needs related to facilities and security operations.
  • Prepare monthly variance reports for capital and operational expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Report on projected costs versus actual spending for assigned activities.

Qualifications for the Security and Facility Officer

Education

  • Diploma or university degree in a relevant field.

Experience

  • At least 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in security management, facilities management, building maintenance, or related operational roles.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services sector will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in the police, military, or private security field is also an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Familiarity with CCTV systems, alarm systems, and other security technologies.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations, including OSHA requirements.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Kiswahili, written and spoken.
  • High level of alertness and ability to identify potential security risks.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal calmly with staff, customers, visitors, and emergency personnel.
  • Strong integrity, discipline, and commitment to duty.
  • Ability to handle conflicts professionally and de-escalate difficult situations.
  • Physical fitness and ability to patrol premises or respond promptly when needed.
  • Ability to work well with teams, departments, and external service providers.
  • Experience in vendor coordination is desirable.
  • National Service (JKT) training or police training will be an added advantage.
