Overview

HSE Officer at Dangote

Location: Mtwara Plant Tanzania, Mtwara Plant Tanzania

Company: Dangote Industries Limited

ABOUT US

With a yearly group turnover of more than US$4 billion (2016), Dangote Industries Limited is a fully integrated and diversified conglomerate with thriving operations in Nigeria and Africa in a variety of industries, including cement, sugar, salt, condiments, packaging, energy, port operations, fertilizer, and petrochemicals. Our main goal is to build and run large-scale manufacturing facilities in Nigeria and throughout Africa in order to supply local, value-added goods and services that satisfy the “basic needs” of the people. In order to create jobs, decrease capital flight, and boost local value addition, we are concentrating on developing local manufacturing capacity.

Over the past 40 years, the Dangote Group’s corporate strategy has changed as its companies have expanded, developed, and diversified into new industries and geographical areas. Inspired by the then-Nigerian government’s liberalized commodity import policy, we began as a bulk commodity trading company in the 1970s. By the late 1990s, however, our approach had changed to emphasize manufacturing for import substitution. The Group’s strategy was further modified in the early 2000s to include strategic asset acquisition in accordance with the privatization policies of the government at the time. This prepared the ground for the expansion and backward integration phase of our ten-year strategic plan.
