HelpAge Tanzania (HAT) is a national non-governmental organization that complies with the Business Entities Registration Act No. 12 of 2012 in Zanzibar and the Non-Governmental Organizations Act of 2022 in Tanzania Mainland.
HAT sees an equitable society where individuals with disabilities and the elderly are protected, empowered, healthy, and able to live with dignity. Throughout Tanzania’s mainland and Zanzibar, HAT collaborates with organizations of people with disabilities (OPDs), governmental organizations, UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, and development partners.
HelpAge Tanzania is looking for skilled, capable, and driven individuals to fill the following roles:
1. Administration and Humanitarian Programme Manager – Gender and Inclusion (AHGIPM)
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Job Purpose:
In order to ensure the methodical integration of gender equality, disability inclusion, safeguarding, and disaster preparedness, the Administration and Humanitarian, Gender and Inclusion Programme Manager (AHGIPM) provides strategic leadership for organizational administration as well as for the design, implementation, and quality assurance of humanitarian and development programs.
The position holder is in charge of enhancing gender-responsive, inclusive, and risk-informed preparedness, disaster response, recovery, and resilience programs within the organization as HAT’s senior-level Gender and Disaster Preparedness Focal Person.
A vital component of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the AHGIPM actively participates in organizational leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making.
2. Health and Care Programme Manager (HCPM)
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Job Purpose:
Strategic leadership, technical supervision, and general management of HAT’s Health and Care portfolio are all provided by the Health and Care Programme Manager. In accordance with HAT’s goals, values, and strategic frameworks, the position guarantees high-quality, inclusive, and person-centered health and care programs for older women, men, and people with disabilities.
Effective program design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, learning, and adherence to donor requirements fall under the purview of the postholder. The position is an important part of Tanzania’s Senior Management Team (SMT) and supports resource mobilization, advocacy, and organizational planning.
3. Integrated Care Nurse (ICN)
Duty Station: Kigoma region, Tanzania Job Purpose:
In the Nduta and Nyarugusu refugee camps, the Integrated Care Nurse (ICN) is in charge of providing person-centered, holistic, and integrated care services to elderly individuals, people with disabilities, people with serious or chronic medical conditions, unaccompanied and separated children, and other marginalized People with Specific Needs (PSNs).
Through preventive, curative, rehabilitative, supportive, and end-of-life care, as needed, in a humanitarian setting, the job focuses on enhancing quality of life, functional ability, comfort, dignity, and psychosocial wellness. To provide coordinated and ongoing care, the ICN collaborates closely with medical facilities, protection teams, community organizations, and humanitarian partners.
4. Senior Protection and Inclusion Officer (SPIO)
Duty Station: Kigoma Region, Tanzania Job Purpose:
HelpAge Tanzania’s inclusive humanitarian and protection programs in refugee camps and host communities in the Kigoma Region are designed, planned, implemented, managed, and administered by the Senior Protection and Inclusion Officer (SPIO).
In order to promote inclusive humanitarian responses, the position holder will actively engage national and international humanitarian actors and exercise strategic leadership in the protection and inclusion of People with Specific Needs (PSNs), especially older individuals and people with disabilities. Additionally, in order to guarantee the sustainability of inclusive humanitarian programming, the SPIO will increase the capacity of local implementing partners and national staff.
As a vital component of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the SPIO will actively engage in management, strategic planning, and organizational decision-making.

Education and Qualifications
- Gender studies, development studies, public administration, social sciences, humanitarian studies, disaster risk management, medical doctor or public health, nursing, social sciences, humanitarian studies, disaster/conflict management, or other related fields are examples of relevant bachelor’s or master’s degrees, depending on the role.
When appropriate, a valid professional registration (for nursing and health-related occupations).
Experience and Competencies
- Professional expertise in development and/or humanitarian programming that is relevant.
strong grasp of the concepts of protection, guardianship, disability inclusion, and gender equality.
experience working with community-based organizations and NGOs/INGOs.
the capacity to operate both individually and in a multidisciplinary team.
strong communication abilities in Kiswahili and English.
high standards of honesty and dedication to the principles of HelpAge Tanzania.
